I grew up in small town North Dakota. At the age of five I found my groove marching along-side the high school marching band while memorizing the drum cadence. At nine years old I was invited to perform "Wipe Out" at the local university. By the time I finished college, I had played 500 to 1000 live gigs with different bands, including a polka and waltz dance band.
I met and studied a number of legendary drummers, including Buddy Rich, Billy Cobham, Louie Bellson, Ed Shaughnessy, Carmen Appice.
My biggest influence was The Beatles. I was also influenced by The Tijuana Brass, The Doobie Brothers, Chicago, Santana, James Taylor, Led Zeppelin, Elton John, Earth Wind and Fire, Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, Steely Dan, Dave Brubeck, Chuck Mangione, Van Halen, Weather Report, Little Feat, Fleetwood Mac, Styx, Stevie Wonder, Sting, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and more.
Then, I decided not to pursue a professional music career. I instead made a career as a national and international award winning video journalist - TV News Photographer.
But I never lost my groove. The wait is over. I am excited to release my debut album, Boy Meets Groove. I hope you enjoy it!
